What Wood Should I Use?
Care should be taken in selecting the material you use to build your Murphy bed to ensure it is safe and comfortable to operate. Please adhere to the guidelines below in planning your Murphy bed and purchasing construction materials. Wilding Wallbeds is not responsible for any damage or injuries sustained from the use of improper construction materials.
Important to note:
- All Murphy beds use stored energy to operate. All instructions should be followed carefully to ensure your Murphy bed operates safely.
- Do not use particle board in the construction of your Murphy bed. All particle board has inherent weaknesses and can not be safely used in Murphy bed construction.
- King size Murphy bed face panels should not be built from MDF core materials. We recommend 4′ x 8′ furniture grade plywood with a ply-core. Use of MDF on face panels will result in a heavy Murphy bed that is uncomfortable or possibly unsafe to raise and lower.
